Youth Development Professional

Boys & Girls Club of Alpena 20-30 hours/week between 2:00pm-6:00pm Monday-Friday

A Youth Professional is responsible for implementing, supervising and leading activities in any of the Priority Outcome areas as assigned by the Unit Director in the Area of Academic Success, Good Character & Citizenship, Health Lifestyles or STEAM for youth ages 6-18 providing a fun and safe program area year round.


  • High School graduate or GED
  • Interest in working with children in a high energy environment
  • Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior problems
  • Demonstrated ability to deal with the general public
  • Ability to implement quality programs for youth
  • Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment
  • Valid State Driver’s License
  • Must pass background check
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, chaotic and loud environment.
  • Ability to deal effectively with multi-age children, small groups of children in activities and free play, and large groups of children in organized activities
  • Ability to interact well with the public and co-workers
  • Ability to meet deadlines with severe time constraints
  • Ability to take responsibility for the safety and well-being of others
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability in planning, coordinating, and implementing programs and activities for youth
  • Demonstrated ability and aptitude in the decision making process
